Bâlea Lac is a popular destination at many times of year - in the winter they build an ice hotel. You can get there by cable car - seen here from the hiking trail, just before an overlook with views of Bâlea Cascada. Also faintly visible in the background is the Trans-Fagaras Highway (closed in winter). December 2011

I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time there. It was cloudy, so I missed out on most of the views.
