Lake Josephine approach

Technically easy routes exists in the vicinity of the large avalanche chute that has cleared a path on Allen Mountain. The hillside is covered with alders, and it's prime grizzly habitat, so be be sure to take caution if hiking off-trail. By ascending uphill and to the right, you'll eventually encounter a small cliff band. Traverse beneath it to the south (right) until an easy, broad class II gully provides access to the north summit ridge. From there, it's a straightforward class II ridge slog to the top.
