Lake Mead from Bearing Peak

Looking down at Lake Mead from the top of Bearing Peak. Lake Mead Area, Nevada. Autumn 2007. Lake Mead is the largest man-made lake in the USA. It extends for 110 miles (180 km) behind the Hoover Dam. Water temperatures range from 45 degrees F. to 85 degrees F. at different times of the year. A high percentage of water in Lake Mead comes from melted snow that fell in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming.

really shot up the charts. Hello,
Anya. This is a cool shot of Lake
Mead. Gee, look at that "bathtub
ring!" Utah got a bunch of snow!

This looks to be very close to the Narrows but I just can't picture the peak.
I marched all the way down Cleopatra the other day only to cliff out with the top of the bathtub ring directly at eye level.

There is a walk-around that tough spot in Cleopatra wash. If you leave the wash before you enter the very narrow section of it and climb the hill to your right you will be able to avoid it and reach the beach that way. I have some photos of the walk-around in this slideshow Cleopatra Cove It's in photo number 56 and 57. I hope this helps. It's a great hike. We continued to Kendall Cove after Cleopatra, but that is unnecessary.

Thanks. It was the first time I even drove down that dirt road. It opened a bunch of new realestate for exploring.
