One comment on the history-I believe the Bierstadt painting "Landers Peak" represents a peak in the Wind Rivers, currently known as Mount Lander. The main Wikipedia page erroneously states that it's in the Wyoming Range, every other reference places it in the Wind Rivers including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the original is located.
Part of the confusion is caused by the fact that there are two different paintings done by Bierstadt titled "The Rocky Mountains, Landers Peak", though I believe both represent the Winds. The famous, 6'x10' one at the Met and the other one at Harvard's Fogg Museum.
