Landscape Arch, Arches

Landscape Arch, Arches

Landscape Arch has already been subitted to SP and those pictures are excellent. As with another photo, this photo was submitted because it is a rare angle. There was once a trail that wound beneath the arch, and it was a fun one to do. With the recent collapse of part of this massive arch, the Park Service was compelled to close the trail. This is a very old arch, as well as one of the biggest rock spans on the planet. It could crumble at any time. I wouldn't want to be under it, either. So, this photo is a snapshot of a time now gone. We must now commune with and appreciate this magnificent object of the eons from a distance. This arch can be seen along the Devils Garden trail, which begins at the end of the Arches road. Thanks, Aaron ...

Thanks for this pic, Aaron. I was just there the other day and wish I could have walked around it to get pic's from a few different angles. But, as your caption states, that's no longer possible. --mark d.

Hi Mark. Yes, we were fortunate to be able to hike that now closed trail. At least we have the benefit of this rare angle on SP. We missed you at the SP gathering!
