Glad you found it all useful. You mentioned that you don't think you made it as far up the road as we did, we stopped right next to a broken-down bulldozer, and walked from there (only due to snow). Did you see that particular spot?
We remember the bulldozer.... Trying to remember if we passed it on foot or in the truck. We think we ended up actually parking just a bit farther up the road from the bulldozer.
Bearbnz, that road is now in bad shape and your best bet is to park at a decent area at the 7000 foot level and walk the rest of the way up to the mine. We tried going further but at a cost to our paint jobs and a large rock stopped us at the 7500' level. Not worth it. Overall, it is a bit more than a mile and a quarter or so from the area we parked to the mine. See pic HERE.
