Larches above the Consolation Lakes

Larches above the Consolation Lakes

In late September, 2008, I hiked nearly to the top of Panorama Ridge to photograph the larch trees curving up from the beautiful Consolation Lakes. Smoke from a prescribed burn at nearby Emerald Lake gave the scene a much warmer look than it would have usually appeared, more than 2 hours after sunrise. From left to right: Bident Mountain (3,088 m.), four-peaked Quadra Mountain (3,174 m.), Mount Fay (3,234 m.), Mount Babel (3,103 m.), and in the hazy background, Mount Tuzo (3,248 m.), Deltaform Mountain (3,426 m.) and Neptuak Mountain (3,241 m.).

EVERYTHING

a glacial-carved canyon and range of mountains
should be.

Excellent.
