Large, open crevasses like...
Large, open crevasses like this one are a common sight on the mountain's upper reaches. This one was encountered on the Kautz Glacier route. There is nothing like a trip up Rainier to give you a sense of the true scale of things--see the small, insignificant human "ants" at the top of the frame?
