Probably Best

This is probably the best shot in its category, you just should change the "Image Type" - if there's no "butteing/butteering/buttering/butting", please click "climbing"
PS Also please attach it to Larry's Mountains of Smiles album.

Re: Probably Best

But ... isn't Courthouse Butte a beaut???
No bull ... I will attach it to the al-BUM!!! Thank you for suggesting it. : )))

It's not really climbing. Doesn't climbing
involve a rope and a helmet???

Re: Probably Best

Whether or not it's climbing is debatable. First and foremost, there's no clear division line between climbing and scrambling, and bu...ng has long been practised by a great many/many great mountain-goers. My instructor on the climbing course I once did didn't bother to use any rope or helmet; one day one licensed climber fell a good few metres near us – looked really bad, head against rock, may not have survived. The knot had come untied, and he wasn't wearing a helmet.

As to your first question, sure there's nothing but bu..., that is beauts in the pic:))). Anyway, have you just decided to start an al(l)-Bum album? Sounds like an interesting idea, no kidding!

Funny, Larry....

that is probably the favorite climbing position of a lot of folks here on SP, including myself :) Keep up the great work!

Re: Funny, Larry....

Thanks, Ray! I was just "conserving energy"
for the long trip back to the automobile.

(Actually, the rock had some ice on it, and I was just trying to avoid falling on my head!) ... Thanks for the encouragement.

Works for me

Now I have this friend who would scoff at this technical climbing technique but as I said in the title here, it "works for me". Way to go Larry, you are helping to keep others "technically" safe by demonstrating the "duffersitz" method.

Re: Works for me

Thanks, Dean. I missed that one of Kadees'.

I would rather be "technically" safe than
"technically" sorry, but that's only my
personal opinion, and hopefully won't spark a
full-fledged debate here on SP.

Duffersitz? I really LOVE that word!
(Maybe there should be an ALBUM devoted to
"duffersitz" - just a thought...)

Re: ahh...

I envision a world where each and every person has mastered the 'duffersitz' position.

Re: ahh...

Thanks! My pants haven't seen one in awhile,
either! : ))))))))))))

Did ya notice how I'm "abutting" the rock?
Just one of the steps in the Duffersitz process. It's all mind over matter ...

Re: I think...

Absolutely right, Mike !!!

Actually, we got a little snow falling in
Flagstaff, but for a "valley pounder" like
me, it helps to have an imagination!!!
