fun hike
had a fun hike to the summit with Amy, Andy, and Beth. This was my 5th time to the summit (trail in 1991 & 2001, NW ridge 2008, East ridge 2010). A busy day, as the 'Reach the Peak' project temporarily has the mountain closed most for most of the season. trip report

NW ridge
A very scenic climb in good conditions. Beautiful views of Shasta. Don't do this route unless snow covered!

conventional route
Slept up here and went up in the morning. Then over to Shasta same day. The plug at the top is cool and you can see Shasta.

Lassen
Three day excursion with Ezra Danciu and George Sakaldasis. Awesome full moons camped beside Lake Helen. Deep snow at higher elevations. Got sick on the summit but slowly but sure descended to camp with no problems.

Carried my downhill resort skis up and enjoyed the suncupson the descent. Nice short hike. Nice view.

Hot Day!
It was a hot day on Lassen, but at least the cool breeze helped a lot on the way down the mountain. Tons of people, so don't be surprised.

Spring Snowboarding
Started from Devastated Area by split board. Swithced to crampons once we reached the base of the mountain. Fantastic ride down!

Summit Closed
LVNP closed the entire mountain for the "Reach the Peak" project on all sides (they had the north side open before but they shut that down too). The trail was open to a point called "Grandview" which doesn't really live up to its name (seems like any other point on the trail) so went up to there. Rangers were watching from the parking lot (with binoculars) for violators. Saw a total of three other people on the trail.

Lots of snow still
Nice mostly clear day, tons of snow still for July, Less than a dozen people on the trail. Followed the standard route up and took a more direct route down with the assistance of an ice axe
2009, cool hike, but you must scramble to the actual summit to have any fun

Skiing
I enjoyed skiing Lassen when the parking lot at the south slopes opened up. I suppose we didn't actually summit (hence 'no success'), but climbed and skied 3 different aspects from ~100 from the summit.
Climbed in spring conditions (warm but still a lot of snow).

My first mountaineering experience
Great weather and a great climb to for my first mountaineering endeavor. Tons of snow helped. Only a few rocky outcroppings close to the summit for crampons to get snagged on, but could have been avoided.

Yeah!!It was very physically and emotionally hard but thanks to my husband EastKing and friends Jimbopo and Josh Lewis, I did it!!

Past climbClimbed ages ago, I still remember the beautiful view from the top.
Date Climbed isn't submitting properly, but I don't remember the exact date anyway. It was summer in the early 1990s.
