Easy day scrambling up the NE gulley Kevin Graves and Bob Cable; descent wasn’t so bad either, literally ran down the NE ridge and left the boys behind.
Laurel Lakes Road definitely was not in winter shape, but once up the bushwack slope and on to the steeper stuff, winter was everywhere. Temps hovered around zero. Incredible views from the top.
Solid hike, looks exceedingly steep from Bloody but wasn't too bad.
Climbed with Mike Chen, 10 hrs car to car. Sustained fun climbing. The descent gully is one of the worst.
A nice cruise mostly up snow to the saddle and then an easy scramble to the summit from there. Stunning views and a good day out.
Climbed many times
With R. Renteria. Protecting any of this is futile. Leave the rope at home. Trip report.
Got off-route up high (too far right) and climbed some sketchy higher angle rock up to the top.
Day hike from Convict Lake Trailhead. Windy and smoky day. Route: TH->Baldwin->Bloody->Laurel->TH
Great route with some fun sustained climbing. Much more fun than the NE ridge route. Base to summit in about 3.5 hours.
Adventurous, byzantine route--but you gotta love scree because this one serves up some of the Sierra's finest.
Fantastic! Probably my favorite climb of any.
Hiked up the Laurel Lakes Road all the way from down near Highway 395. Once at a decent spot, I hiked and scrambled up Laurel from the North through bush, scree, and rock. Much longer than anticipated, but I could see some climbers far ahead and towards the summit which motivated me to push on, as it looked like they had just finished on the NE route from the Convict Lake side and were making their own final ascent. Summited with some incredible views towards Bloody Mountain Duck Lake Peak, the Silver Divide, Red Slate, and deep in to the Sierra Range.
Had snowboarded Mammoth the day before, so my legs were asking to be taking off life support.
Not a very inspiring climb but gorgeous views from the summit!
Climbed a very prominent arete to the right of the NE gully which splits up and right around the red rock band. Climbed a headwall that was 99% never climbed before- sketchiest moves I have done while soloing. Had a lot of fun in the end. Rock above wasn't bad at all and arete was amazing!
Out on a fall camping trip with ST, FR, and MB. JQ and I ascended from the saddle. Great weekend. Featured the first snow of the year.
started up this route and made some wrong turn but this mistake led us into a fantastic river of great rock... nice welcome back to the rock for my friend jenn.. we are calling this johnny cash ring of fire 5.8R.. damn i wont forget this!! outstanding.
We had hoped for more snow, but the start to the season was quite dry. Ended up bushwacking up to the NE ridge where decent rock was finally found. Overall a nice day and a nice view.
Solo, North Side, good hike.
