Excellent shot ...

Have you ever thought about how St. Helen's
lava dome, Spirit Lake and Rainier could all
be aligned, and somehow connected???

That's cool - I see steam rising from the
top of the dome. I wonder how much water
Spirit Lake can hold, before it bursts.
Didn't the Corps of Engineers build a tunnel
to control the lake's level?

Wonder when they will let people explore on
the lava dome. Seems like it could be rather
dangerous. This is a really awesome photo!!!

Re: Excellent shot ...

I think if you followed the ridge further west you could set up a shot like the one you described. I'd like to see it. Let me know if you run into one like that.

I just found a small article about what the Corps of Engineers did to control the lake. Interesting stuff.

I know that at the moment it is illegal to enter the crater but I'm sure that won't stop some thrill seekers from trying. With hot gas releases and rockfall, you wouldn't catch me going in there. Thanks for the thoughts.
