Leading the bowling alley. The big boulder in the middle offers the single best gear placement, about a 1 inch cam. This reasonably solid fourth class, and this section is often soloed. The top of the pitch is the rappel slings.

Leading the Bowling Alley

Because of potential rockfall, I recommend getting out of the Bowling Alley as quickly as possible. Across from your "alcove", you can go south & up to the ridge overlooking the Terrible Traverse, and then follow the ridge to the east. Easy to protect with lots of chickenheads and not nearly as loose as going up the alley. You'll still get to the same location with the rap slings.
