I have only been up there to do Mt. Darwin's North Face (in a day), but I would call this statement correct :) My partner was wearing approach shoes and thoroughly smoked me on the way in and on the way out ...

Is there really sustained, overhanging, technical ice with not so great pro? I find it difficult to believe that a couloir climb in California could really be WI5+. So do you find I9 harder than the first pitch of Ames Ice Hose?
