Route Climbed: Northwest Books 5.9 variation Date Climbed: July 14, 2005  Sucess!

A short two-pitch climb if you start high and end low before walking up and off. We got here behind another party, an older guy and his very young daughter. He disappeared over the lieback bulge and the rope didn't move for a long time, so I soloed up to see what he was doing. He was halfway up the crack and having a hard time. Is that the 5.9 variation? I asked. He said he didn't know what it was but that it was hard. Eventually, he backed off, did the traverse to the right and belayed his daughter up, who tried and failed to clean his highest piece in the crack. I followed and found the crack burly enough but not too much work and certainly the highlight of the route. My second couldn't clean the piece, either. A nice warm-up climb, especially now that there's fixed gear for any nervous leaders on the crux.

I assume the fixed piece is a green cam? I saw one there yesterday.

Route Climbed: Left Water Crack, Northwest Books, Cry In Time Again, East Slope Date Climbed: Many times  Sucess!

This is one of the best easy summits anywhere. It takes less than an hour to hike to the top, and you can get a 360 degree view of all the Tuolumne peaks from it. Funny how small Lembert looks from the summit of, say Cathedral.

Route Climbed: Don't know Date Climbed: June 1996  Sucess!

Scrambled up the easy slopes to the left (looking from carpark) of where the rocklimbing action seemed to be. Had no gear with me. Only just realised it was a personal altitude record at the time, boy that car park must be way above Sea Level!

2X  Sucess!

September 12th, 2010 - Climbed NW Books - Descended S Slopes - A nice easy trad lead.

July 30th, 2004 - Ascended South Slope - descended North Cleft - I climbed this route on my way to the 2004 Sierra Challenge. Besides being a fun scramble and leg-stretcher, the summit provided great views of Mts Lyell and Maclure, our objective in 2 days. The descent down the north side was more interesting, but the loose rock also made it a little more dangerous.

I just love the place. Once with my wife and her friends drinking Tequilla. One of the friends, Caroline could sing better than Linda Ronstandt, she was serenading the campers in the campground who applauded after each song!
