Lenticular Cloud Over the Black Buttes

Lenticular Cloud Over the Black Buttes

Taken March 27, 2011 from Haystack Mountain on the way to Silo Mountain. Mount Baker is just barely out of the frame of this photo. After doing careful observations I found out the peak on the left is the South Sister.

Re: good

Thanks Rizwan! It was a great clearing, a few minutes later the entire view was clouded over which eventually it began to snow. It happened quite fast, but was sure beautiful during the moment.

Re: good

Was going to say ...

Whenever we have those clouds over central Arizona, the weather changes quite rapidly.

Then the sun comes back out, and we all have
to run for the shade with our tongues
hanging out!

Re: good

Lucky you, when a storm comes in this region, good luck seeing the sun for a long time. ;-) Sometimes we get lucky and can see Lenticular clouds for a while before the storm actually hits.

Excellent album . . .

You have an excellent album. And the quote on your home page is classic and very inspiring. Keep up the excellent work.

Never stop exploring and thanks for stopping by.

Re: Excellent album . . .

Thanks Marlon! It is a great world of beauty in the Pacific northwest, sadly many who live here do not even experience it! Glad you liked the quote, it is one of my favorites and in almost every way applies to my life. Today I had another fun day out in the mountains.

Re: looks like

I took a look at the article. Sounds similar but a little different of how they form (well ok don't quote me on this one). Lenticular's are pretty sweet looking clouds.

Re: looks like

Hard to see if it's the end of something coming from behind (foehn) or just a lenticular one

Sweet!

I get to see Baker & the Black Buttes a lot, but haven't seen them like this. Congratulations on perfectly capturing a beautiful sight.

Re: Sweet!

Thanks Eric, some of my other photos did not turn out because of the noise factor from the dark storm clouds coming over. But it certainly was a enjoyable sight.
