Re: Silence...Thank you. These cliffs form an impressive barrier on the west side of Lewis Peak. In the photo, you can see Macabre Wall on the left and the Mezzanines Wall on the right which are broken in the middle by Jump Off Canyon. This is one of the best trad climbing walls in these mountains.
The most well known climbers to this area were Jeff and Greg Lowe who grew up in the Northern Wasatch Mountains. Greg made the first free ascent of the very difficult roof on Macabre Wall in 1967 when he was a teenager. It wasn’t until 35 years later that it saw another ascent. Many other historic routes are located here.

Jeff Lowe is the same climber exploiting also in the Monte Bianco Range and in Himalaya?
this range is really attractive!
I am disccovering on SP a lot of interesting area over there in the States.

Re: Silence...Thanks! This is a very attractive range and it is very close to were I live. I have also learned a lot about mountain ranges in other countries thanks to SP.
Yes, I agree, Macabre Wall is a very interesting name. When people try to climb the roof they say it is terrifying and maybe there is a feeling of death too about having all of that air beneath you.
The Lowe family had many climbers. They include brothers Jeff, Greg, Mike, and cousin George. The most well known is Jeff Lowe. He has numerous first ascents. Here is his Website.
