Lewis Peak  Sucess!

I started at the North Ogden Divide TH. I did this as a trail run. The first 1.25 miles or so were pretty steep and then it mellowed out a bit after that. Once on the appropriately name ¨skyline¨ part of the trail it was great. In late May there were a lot of wildflowers, great views, and it was really green. This is a nice trail, and I will probably do it again.

Very hot day, climbed from Ogden divide  Sucess!

Even at this elevation, it was really hot. I tried to sit and take a break at the summit, but the small rocks were actually too hot to sit on! Saw some young people in hammocks at the first stand of trees on the way down.

Lovely Day of Mapping Weeds  Sucess!

Bagged this one while mapping invasive weeds for the Forest Service. Unfortunately I didn't know about Eyrie until I finished for the day. That would have been an easy one to add to the list. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day. Wild flowers in bloom and relatively few weeds.

Ups and downs - literally  Sucess!

A pleasant 5-mile plus hike (one way) with undulations enough to please carousel aficionados. There are several wooden signs along the way, and one can choose to circle below or cruise over the top of Eyrie Peak, a rather unspectacular knoll between the switchbacks and the eventual Lewis Peak summit. The large rock outcropping on the north side of Lewis Peak allows one to identify it quickly once up on the ridgelines. Encountered hikers, bikers and one 18"-long bull snake. Time to summit 1+59. Time from summit to TH 1+36. IVD

Lewis and Eyrie and all the bumps  Sucess!

Beautiful day in the mountains with Miko and Nala. Nice hike. Nala, the pup, says it should be a three or four-fer with going over Eyrie twice and all the bumps in between :-)

Lewis and Eyrie  Sucess!

From the North Ogden Divide TH. Stayed true the ridge the entire way crossing over Eyrie Peak and all the bumps in between. Great views and very enjoyable ridge hike. There were many times I did regret not bringing snowshoes, however.

Windy  Sucess!

Super cold and windy above treeline. I was wearing every piece of clothing that I brought. First went over Eyrie and continued on to Lewis. On the way back, took a side trip south to P7862. Lots of ups and downs on this one.

8110, Eyrie, Lewis  Sucess!

Climbed via North Ogden divide with my wife and son. It was chili and windy. Tons of jack ass's on motorcycles ripping the ridge line apart all day which was saddening as it was difficult to enjoy such a beautiful wilderness area while dodging motorcycles, breathing fumes, listening to the noise, and watching the trails turn in to trenches. Summit was cold and windy. Ran in to a nice 3 to 4 foot rattler on the trail about 5 minutes in to the descent from the summit of Lewis.

Dry, dusty, and quiet  Sucess!

I only saw a few people on the switchbacks today, and then nobody "on top". It was dry and dusty and there was smoke in the air from a few wildfires in northern Utah so the views were a little hazy, but I had a great time.

Eyrie via Lewis  Sucess!

Came up from Jumpoff Canyon (Jagged Edge 5.5 II) then scrambled to Lewis in the snow. Party didn't consider Lewis a peak so we pressed on to "Eyrie" in snowshoes, then descended to North Ogden trailhead in the dark.

Lewis  Sucess!

Hit 8086, 8110, and Eyrie on the way to Lewis. Still a lot of snow on the East faces. Hiked a long snow field up 8086 from the trail junction at the bottom/North all the way to the top. Had to cross a large snow field right before the fork to Lewis.

Eyrie and Lewis  Sucess!

Did a combo Eyrie/Lewis hike today. 92 degrees in the valley, extremely pleasant and breezy on the ridge. 2.5 hours total up, 2.2 hours down. Shared the trail w/ 4 motorcyclists, a half dozen bikers, and three other hikers. Was feeling pretty good about myself until 5 jogging girls passed me on the upper trail! Great veiws and well worth the day.

North Ogden Divide  Sucess!

Climbed 8110. Eyrie, and Lewis Peaks today with my son. Tough in some spots with still a lot of snow, and some route finding challenges out to Lewis (first time beyond Eyrie). Climbed the unnamed peak with no elevation on the topo map just south of 8110 on the way back for fun. Great day although we forgot to pack sunscreen and are paying for it now!

GO UTES!!!
