Lichens on Black Canyon of the Gunnison North Rim

Fascinating color contrasts between lichens and a rock along the North Vista Trail of the Black Canyon of the Gunnision, CO. That's the canyon in the background, of course. The point on this side of the canyon rim that juts into the image slightly high and center is Exclamation Point. Imaged in August 2006.

Thanks for looking, Noondueler. I actually had hike past this point and it kept preying on my mind. So, I told my son (Curtis) to keep on heading towards the top while I went back and set up to shoot this picture. I used a ultra-wide-angle lens to keep as much in focus as possible. --mark d.
