Overview

Liesgelespitze, or also known as Liesgelespitz lays above Mallnitz in Carinthia. It is situated between two group of mountains, it is on the border of Goldberg Gruppe (west) and Ankogel Gruppe (northeast). Being not too high (2406m) in the region and technically easy mountain it is not too crowded or well known although it has something to be famous of. And that is Hindenburghöhe (2316m), a monument which can be found coming from Mallnitz on the route Nr.138 from south (see Routes Section!). There is a nice view on Maresenspitze, Ankogel, Saeuleck, Hochalmspitze, Böseck and so on.

Getting There

There are many ways to the mountain. Some come from Mallnitz (1191m), others from Hannover Haus (2722m) or Hagener Hütte (2446m) through Mindener Hütte (2431m). There is a very informative web page of Mallnitz and it's surroundings with much info of mountaineering, camping-sleeping, summer and winter activities, how to get there, what to see including webcams and a map. The web page can be red in german, english and italian. You can reach Mallnitz by car from the neighbouring countries or by plane landing on Innsbruck International Airport. There is also a possibility of coming by train. In this case see the timetable of the Tauernbahn ÖBB. This train takes cars through the tunnel under Liesgelespitze coming from northwest. From every way it is an easy enjoyable climb/walk with a great view in clean weather on the neighbouring mountains. You can make a long but very beautiful circle-hike in the region.

Red Tape

No summit or route fees. The routes are open in every time of the year! Live weather forecast of Mallnitz and webcmas on the village and it's surroundings are always aviable and updated.

Camping

Sleeping is possible in the houses on the mountain. Hagener Hütte (2446m), Hannover Haus (2722m), Mindener Hütte (2431m) or in the lower station of Ankogelbahn called Alpengasthof Hochalmblick (1926m) and of course in many apartments in Mallnitz (1191m).
