Did a Pemi Loop over 2.5 days with a couple of friends. Going counter clockwise, camped at Guyot and Garfield tent sites. Saw an awesome lightning over a town to the north storm from Garfield; got hailed on in a lightning storm on the way out on the last day. Had a bottle of Bowmore with us.
Awesome up there... freezing cold and whipping winds.
Hiked up and down.
Hiked the classic Haystack-Lincoln-Lafayette loop with my father. Strong winds on the ridge but nice autumn views.
First summit on the ridge from the Falling Waters Trail. I was able to take a couple photos before the clouds rolled on.
Climbed Little Haystack as the first peak on a standard Franconia Ridge Traverse. Beautiful weather (hot in the valley, cooler on top!) and good company made for a great day.
This was part of our Franconia Ridge hike in preparation for my son's big trip to the West Coast Trail. Can't remember much details, here is a link to the trail we did, except we did it in reverse http://www.dartmouth.edu/~doc/hiking/franconiaridge/ I'd do this hike again, we had one of the most beautiful views and scenery in New England!
Crossed this summit many times as part of the Old Bridle Path -> Falling Waters loop. Also once as part of a double traverse of the ridge.
Blue skies, windy, and cold. Perfect for the last official full day of winter.
This was the first mountain summit reached after a counter-clockwise hike of the ridge loop.
Had to use wind goggles and crampons for the ridge itself. A bit icy in some spots
Another Old Bridle Path summit
Nice hike up the Falling Waters Trail. Hiked along the ridge to Lafayette
Climbed late winter on route to Lafayette.
Weather wasn't cooperating as we'd hoped, but still a fun 17 mile loop nonetheless. Would love to see it on a clear day.
Got this after Lincoln...the dirt path leading to Haystack was easy....the descent down was not so much :) Great hikes, though.....do this loop!
Followed the Franconia Traverse. 12 below in the morning! Great snow and blue sky.
Well...I've HEARD it's really pretty out there...I'll just have to use my imagination...socked in right from the start. Oh well...at least the trail was awesome!
Gorgeous hike! very icey but amazing views
Had a perfect day for the climb. My knees will be paying for it tomorrow...
Franconia Ridge Traverse. Did it a couple years later as well.
