Excuse me ...

I have a question! What is the rope
attached to??? Do you drive pitons or
some type of anchor into the rocks???
I always wondered about that. Nice photo!

Re: Excuse me ...

Thanks :)

I believe that one is the one along this route that is a hanging one that is a bit scary for the person rigging the rope. Yes, they are called bolts and other things can be used as well like slings around trees. The use of bolts is a huge debate in the canyoneering world. Some like canyons bolted to increase the safety while others do not want them so that the canyon is more challenging. There is also debate about the appearance of bolts and webbing.

I don't know

anything about ropes or bolts. (When it comes to "nuts & bolts," I know more NUTS than I do bolts!) Kidding!!! Thanks
for not "blowing my mind" with technical
language I can't understand. I would
think that the personal safety of the
climber or rappeler would be of upmost
importance. Guess the type and composition
of the individual rock would be very KEY.
Please check this out! It was taken on
what could possibly be a "limestone" formation. Thanks for your time, Tanya.
