Nice one

My introduction to hiking in Montana. Didn't have time to go all the way to the top that day.

Sunrise Summit  Sucess!

Camped at Carlton Lake, left the lake about 4:30am to catch the sunrise! Amazing views!

Excellent Hike  Sucess!

Great hike but wear good shoes, bring your moleskin. My toenails turned Black from hitting the front of my boots on the descent.

Nice hike  Sucess!

Hiked in on the main trail to Carlton lake then scrambled up the north side. Busy trail. Will have to try a Sweeny to Lolo peak traverse this winter!

Good Times  Sucess!

A couple friends of mine had never been up there so we decided to go. Really beautiful this time of year but also really hot. Came up the east ridge this time, which was new for me. The summit was so nice we could have just napped up there for hours! Then we had an epic time with lots of laughs boot skiing down the NE face!

Via Lantern Ridge  Sucess!

Took the Mill Creek trailhead up to Lantern Ridge starting at 9pm (after work). Met up with two buddies already on the mountain and made camp at about 6000ft.
Left later than intended at about 10am and made our way up the ridge to the northern peak. Did not get to go to the south peak, though I will be back I'm sure.

East Ridge  Sucess!

Awesome hike. We saw a total of six people the entire day - three trail crew memebers on our way up, and three swimmers heading for a late evening dip at Carlton Lake on our way back to the trailhead. It was a real treat to have this area all to ourselves! Spectacular summit views - I was especially impressed by the beautiful lake basin east of the summit.

Great run!  Sucess!

Leah and I ran/hiked to the top on a lazy July afternoon. Took a non-standard route, just for fun, circling around Carlton lake to the northwest. Wonderful day!

Post holing the whole way back  Sucess!

Went up in June not really planning on going all the way, just wanted to see how far I could get over the waist deep snow. Made pretty good time and had fairly easy walk up. Soft snow on the way back down was a bit of a challange.

NE ridge from Carlton Lake  Sucess!

2nd time on summit. This time we went the rest of the way to the south (true) summit.

Good day  Sucess!

August 2008
Nice on the way up but we were chased off by a thunderstorm. Luckily, we reached summit just in time to enjoy the views before it hit us. By the time we got back to the trail, it was sunny again.

Missoula Classic  Sucess!

I've hiked this peak several times with each one being unique and memorable. One such time left rmick and myself atop the summit at early morn. napping in the warm sunlight. A classic for any hiker/climber in the Missoula area.

Great place for a nap  Sucess!

After a moonlit ascent. I took one of the greatest nap's of my life on the way down. Was a weee bit late for work.

The Connecting Ridge to Sweeney  Sucess!

14aug10 - Hit this summit again before following the connecting ridge to Sweeney Peak. The ridge is no cake walk, but it's a great climb for anyone willing to put out the effort.

26jun09 - can't remember how many times I've climbed this peak - funny that I never signed the Climbers' Log.

This time there was plenty of snow which forced Class 3 climbing on the exposed rock on Lolo-North's east ridge. To make things more interesting I climbed Point 8694 on the way to both Lolo summits.

Independence Day  Sucess!

Topped out on Lolo before heading south and completing the ridge traverse to Sweeney Peak. Still enough snow for some skiers to be out.
