Made it about 2/3 of the way with friend Erik. Things were going great till I had knee trouble. Great alpine trav. Hope to complete route some day,it's way over due.

half-way  Sucess!

I hiked in to Lolo as usual, continued over the south summit, then along the ridge until past the "crux" as outlined in the beta. Stayed on top the whole time, found nothing above class 4. After the crux I dropped down to the lakes, then hiked cross country to the (quite faint) trail back to Carlton and the trail home. A very nice way to spend a day.

Independence Day  Sucess!

Completed the traverse with a friend and my dog. It's always interesting getting the dog through the 4th class rock. There's still plenty of snow up high. Took eight hours from the Lolo trailhead to the Sweeney trailhead.

Second time was even better  Sucess!

14aug10 - Used the connecting ridge to make a point-to-point outing from Lolo Peaks to Sweeney Peak. The ridge is no cake walk, but it's a great climb for anyone willing to put out the effort. This time I took a friend along.

10Aug07 – Did a solo climb of the connecting ridge between Lolo and Sweeney. A wonderful, though taxing, climb I recommend for anyone who likes route finding plus Class 3 and 4 climbing.
