Climbed several times  Sucess!

I used to live right off summit road for about four years. During that time I have tooled around the area. I have been to the summit several times, and been chased off several other times by my "neighbors" who do not like people up there...

From Uvas Canyon  Sucess!

Nice hike up the canyon, then a little road hiking for variety :-)

Route Climbed: From Uvas Canyon, then to Summit Road Date Climbed: July 24, 2004  Sucess!

This was a fairly easy hike--all the work is done when hiking from Uvas County Park up to Summit Road. From Summit Road, it is more or less a stroll.

Views from the top are good, but you never get a grand sweeping view because there are towers everywhere. Also took a little work to find a route between all the fences to get near the highest point on the mountain. There was a surprising sea breeze coming up from the (visible) ocean on the hot July day while coming up Summit Road.

We hit Nibbs Knob on the way back down to the Uvas parking lot. It's certainly easier on the way down than it is on the way up.

Route Climbed: walked from road Date Climbed: July 17, 2003

Did not go to the top of Loma Prieta, but walked around nearby Crystal Peak and Mt. Chual. Very nice views of SF Bay area and Monterey Bay area.

Route Climbed: By car on road, then a short walk to summit Date Climbed: April 2005 (unsure of exact date)  Sucess!

Was able to go with my father because he was doing CDF work. Would be a great veiw if it wasn't for the fog.

Route Climbed: East Slope Date Climbed: February 20, 2005

Discovered the East Slope Trail that led to the summit. It was really windy up there! It was also raining. couldn't see much at the top that time except a bunch of antennae. Been up 4X since then, mainly when it snows.

Route Climbed: From Sierra Azul / Mt. Umunhum Date Climbed: 199?  Sucess!

From Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, one can find the paved road leading to Mt. Umunhum, signed Private Property and gated. I hiked up this road and then along the summit ridge to Loma Prieta. On the way back I was warned by one land owner, then barred from recrossing the property of another. I spent several hours detouring around his property on the south side of the ridge via dirt roads and bushwhacking (ugh!). Beware, this route is entirely on private property as far as I could tell. The views are really grand, but not worth the hassle.

Route Climbed: Loma Prieta Road Date Climbed: 26 March 2005  Sucess!

Working on some P2k peaks. Was fun, tried a bunch of approaches direct off Summit Road (which were a big waste of time), finally gave up and did it the easy way.
