Look Through Any Window

Window Rock is a small park near the Navajo Nation Administration Center featuring the graceful sandstone arch for which the capital is named. The Navajo Nation extends into the states of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, covering over 27,000 square miles of unparalleled beauty. The Navajo Nation headquarters and other government offices are built in close proximity to this mystical rock formation. Tseghahoodzani (The Performated Rock), which is adjacent and north of the Navajo Service administration buildings, is important in the Water Way Ceremony (Tohee). It was one of the 4 places where Navajo medicine men go with their woven water bottles to get water for the ceremony that is held for abundant rain. Tseyaato (Spring Under the Rock) is located in the rock formation just south of the Haystacks (rounded sandstone monoliths) and beside the NM State Hwy 264 between Gallup, New Mexico and Window Rock, Arizona. This spring, which seeps from under the rock was the first stopping place out of Fort Defiance when some 4,000 Navajos in the area started their "Long Walk" to Fort Sumner in 1864. Moon Shot

Now, if you could ever shoot the Moon through that portal, it would something even more amazing.

Re: Moon Shot

Yes, you're right Ray!

The trouble is, I've never been much of a "night owl," so I'd have to risk upsetting my
biological clock in order to capture the moon!

Then again, would be nice to shoot the "Dark
Side of The Moon
." : ))

Re: Moon Shot

Perfect. Pink Floyd. Being a bit of an astronomer, I was surprised to learn that the Moon only has a dark side as viewed from Earth.

Due to synchronicity (matched rotation to orbit), sunlight reaches every part of the Moon. Maybe the Monolith is hiding on the far side. It's 2010.

Re: Moon Shot

I must apologize that I'm not an astronomer or
scientist in any sense of the word, but I do
like to watch the stars every now and again.

And yes, I am a BIG fan of the SYNCHRONICITY
theory. : ))
