Looking back along the Gfallwand WNW ridge

The dark peak dead ahead is the false summit on the ridge. I came from the Ginggljoch, the saddle on its other side. It's a big saddle, and in fact its easternmost edge is still visible on the right. But from most of the saddle only the false summit of Gfallwand is visible. The steep snow slope low on the right hand side used to be the top of a glacier, the Gfalleitferner. It's only snow now, nice and soft from the strong sun, and I would use it as my descent route. 16 July 2013.
