Mellow, Kind of Long Hike  Sucess!

Some mileage but still an easy hike to visit both summits. Saw a Bobcat walking up the spur to the north summit.

Hill run  Sucess!

Made a run out of this one. Despite the smoke everywhere else, there was a clear view of Baker and Twin Sisters. Also a nice view through trees of the San Juans. Would definitely make a great place to view a sunset or sunrise.

Lookout Mountain  Sucess!

A quick trip to both summits on the bike. A few hundred yards before arriving at the north summit, I noticed a side road on the left. On the way down, I followed it a short distance to its end, and was pleased to find an expansive 180 degree west view.

Meh  Sucess!

Road slogs suck. After the fact, locals told me there's a trail that isn't mentioned here. Bagged both "summits".

North summit  Sucess!

I had it in my mind that the north summit was the only one that counted but in retrospect I should have done the south as well. It wouldn't have been that big a deal. My hiking companion Dennis got them both so he can "truly" count all of Lookout Mtn. It was an 11 mile hike for me on a really hot day and I had to head for Utah afterwards so it helped to make it a long long day.

Lookout  Sucess!

The first time I just tagged the N summit and then the second time I returned with Duane and we tagged both peaks. There is some nice forest here and if a trail were built it could be a pleasant lowland hike. The summit almost has good views of the San Juans but there were some trees that impede the views. Lame summit towers as is usually the case.

Visited Both Summit Areas...  Sucess!

Outside of seeing a coyote during my descent, the trip was fairly uneventful. I made excellent hiking time, although with some occasional snow jogs and photo stops mixed in. It took me 1h30m to reach the "Y" intersection, then 30m to reach the south summit, then 30m to reach the "Y" intersection again, then 30m to reach the north summit, then 1h15m to return back to the entrance gate. I was a little surprised to find a person's bootprints in snow leading all the way to the highpoint on the north summit (although that person avoided the south summit). It must have been another peakbagger, rather than a regular hiker... the person took the time to put a bunch of bootprints and handprints on what appeared to be the highest point on the north summit boulder. lol
