SUPA fun scramble. Solid class 3 rock for extended segments. Would definitely repeat this mountain. Not as loose as it looks.

Standard S Ridge from near Ophir Pass
I didn't like this very much at all, perhaps partially because I had done an 18+ mile hike the day before. But, really, this just is not a high quality scramble.

South Ridge
Followed the directions in the Colorado Scrambles book to the top of a rewarding summit. Easy scrambling didn't sketch me out at all even soloing it.

nice views and cool summit
nice scramble, great views, got little rained on when descending.
Came up a different way, but don't recommend it. We went up steep loose scree from the backside of Ophir Pass and then ended up on the NW Ridge, which between the snow, ice and towers led us to some sketchy class 4/low 5. Our descent was better, a class 3 downclimb into a loose rubble gully before we traversed back along the NW ridge over "T12" and "Oscars" before winds forced us back down without finishing our intended traverse to Silver.

afternoon hike
very quick hike up from Ophir Pass making it one of the easiest top 200 peaks in the San Juans. Only because it was so short did I dare climb it in the afternoon during monsoon season. The top section requires some route finding to keep it 2+ to 3 in difficulty. There is some loose scree on the way up the gully but nothing compared to many other areas on the San Juans.
A nice, short scramble from near Ophir Pass that is detailed in Dave Cooper's Colorado Scrambles book. Had time to summit and make it back to Denver to catch a 6pm flight - no time for a shower though :). Infinitely easier than its big bad brother across the steet that I climbed the day before - South Lookout.
