The normal route follows the wash down to the rim, thence North along the rim until you are cliffed out by the East ridge of twin redtop butte rising prominently on the skyline.
A couple gullies break through the rim there. The more distant one is where the famed Old Stock Trail winds down the slope. Plenty of cairns to give you a piece of mind, once you get really close, but pretty much nothing between here and there.
We actually made a "shortcut" some ways off the rim, up and over a minor ridge and then down 200 exposed vert feet ... not recommended. 5/31/08
