Followed Sarah's tracks  Sucess!

Hiked in on the road and took (3rd right?) where we started to follow "Sarah"'s tracks. Caught up to her at the last bridge where a frozen waterfall was waiting for us. Then we had to break trail for her. :D Long hoof through a gradual uphill through lightly wooded forest of oaks. End of the hike is steep but a rabbit trail guided our way. Barely a view from the top - if you stand atop a huge boulder you get a little view. Met Sebastian on the way down - he just finished upper wolf jaw. Came out just before dark. :D Snowshoes the whole time. Fun butt slide down off the summit saved the knees.

Perfect Day  Sucess!

Rooster comb, hedgehog, lower wolf jaw. Came down the 3 mile exit 73 trail towards Ausable club and hoofed it back to the parking lot. 14 mile round trip. Gorgeous day - perfect. If you go, make sure to catch the views at Rooster Comb. They are the best views you will get on the whole hike. There are minimal views at Lower Wolf Jaw. Never found the summit marker but we met a family and a couple who all declared we were at the summit. :-D

Lower Wolf Jaw via Marcy Field Parking  Sucess!

Today was my first experience parking in Keene Valley. I knew it would be too late so I tried Marcy Field where a shuttle picks people up for $5 (Saturday and Sunday?) and you get a round trip to and from the Garden. I only had to wait a few minutes for the shuttle and got hiking by 9:30 am. The Garden parking lot was full at 6 am according to Gary from Tupper. I tried taking the south side trail but John's Brook was far too high so I bushwacked back to the north side trail and proceeded to John's Brook lodge (which is tiny) and crossed there. The trail up to Lower Wolf Jaw had some amazing slides! I met an experienced older gentleman and his lady (she had finished her 46 the previous day on Basin) and got some cool hiking tips. The guy had a patch for 46er, winter 46er, winter 35er, and he had hiked all of the peaks over 5000 on the east coast. I didn't bring my Nikon DSLR today because it is broken. I think I got it wet (from dripping sweat) and now it will not function properly. As a result my pictures are not as enjoyable as usual. I met some more great people on the peak later in the day. John the mailman had hiked the AT in 2000. I met a couple of young guys who had knocked off 18 peaks this season because one of them was going in the Army to be a 91Bravo which is no longer a medic....it is a diesel mechanic. Anyway I had a great day with little pressure..Thanks again to Gary form Tupper Lake previously from New Jersey for the ride out to Marcy Field from the Garden.....I don't know where the bus was but I would have gotten wet waiting.

Upper/Lower Wolfjaw Spring Hike  Sucess!

Summited the 30th highest peak in the Adirondacks after summiting its neighbor, Upper Wolfjaw. The trek up from the Upper/Lower Wolfjaw junction was very mixed. We had plenty of ice, rock, soil and wood encounters. This made it a challenge, but overall the trek up was easy. The summit was mostly covered in foliage, but there were spots you could peak out and see the surrounding valleys. Maybe not as nice of a view as its neighbor but still nice. We headed back down to Lake Road after descending Lower Wolfjaw. The trek back was pretty muddy, due to some of it following a brook. We had our fair share of slips on the trail, but made it back to St. Huberts intact.

Did the post-Irene Bennies Brook Slide, which was awesome. Very nice day hike. Though I recommend not doing when it's 95 degrees out like we did!

Nice short climb after doing Gothics, Armstrong, and Upper Woljaw. Mediocre view compared to the others but a nice summit to chill out at. I love these mountains!
