Loved the hike, the weather changed suddenly and we got very cold without jackets! Prepare for anything.
Avoided this one for the longest time since no one ever sounded too enthusiastic about the fun to be had hiking it from the valley floor along the "traditional" route, but the Adelmann Mine route shaves off some elevation and boring road hiking (and has the fun addition of taking a look around the old mine!), plus it means you get views east toward bigger mountains most of the way. Probably my least favorite of the Grand Slams but still a nice spring hike.
Great hike... long but worth it. Very windy at the top!
Easy hike, started at 5pm hungover and made it up somehow. Awesome view but be prepared for some wind!
Lucky Peak was the first real mountain I climbed at age 11. We started from Highway 21, went over Table Rock and climbed the southwest ridge. On another trip we climbed to the summit and traversed the ridge to Aldape Summit.
Great training hike for the bigger hills.
Made for a great Thanksgiving morning snow trek!
Great time of year. Small amount of snow but packed and easy to hike.
Easy to get to the trailhead from Boise, great training hike for elevation/distance! No spectacular scenery really but great training. Good view of Treasure Valley and Bogus Basin from the top
Good hike for being so close to Boise. I even saw some lizards near the top and hiked through a forest.
Nice day to hike; a fresh dusting of snow made it a little more scenic.
In Boise on business and I did this after work with Ryan Anderson in the dark.
Nice long trail run with steep grades up, and long tough descent.
Went up shaw mountain rd. For about 4.5miles parked found a trail that was a pretty steep hike up to the yree line then found myself on a jeep trail all the way to the top. Great day :)
Drove 1.3 miles up the Highland Valley Road and walked the rest of the way to the top. Great views of the Boise Valley. Beautiful sunny November day, nice leg stretcher.
This peak is very accessible from Boise making it a great training trail for hiking, running and mountain biking. I've hiked it several times from the Council Springs TH. It's mostly dry, so take whatever water you need. Bring a leash for your dog.
I've lost count how many times I've hiked this trail from Council Springs. It's a Great training hike done in a 1/2 day or so. From the summit, a lesser used trail on the SW ridgeline gives you a scenic shortcut back to the main trail.
Trying to get in shape for the climbing season ahead I drove up the Highland Summit on Highway 21 and climbed up to the top of Lucky Peak and back. It was a nice hike in the hot sun that day, but made it to the top with the three dogs and back down.
Super windy the last time! Hiked it 4 times now.
Long 5.5 miles up and 5.5 back down. I totally enjoyed it and hung out with the Bird Branding project people for a while. They were setting traps for Owls at night and luring Hawks in by day. Also were branding the Songbirds
