- click to see the description
Lunag Ri is located at the border between Nepal and Tibet, just across Nangpa La (foreground).
The main summit has a prominence of 1175m, and all peaks in the massif are unclimbed, to the exception of Jobo Rinjang (aka Lunag Ri South East, 6778m, located fully within Nepal), which was successfully ascended on 22 April 2009 by David Gottlieb and Joe Puryear. Joe Puryear tragically died in October 2010 while attempting Lapche Kang I (7367m) in Tibet.
Jobo Rinjang (6778m) should not be confused with Jobo Rabzang (6666m)
, located 12.5km further north.
