Man and Mountain

I very much like the composition. The climber has a great posture - instead of the usual stand up pose - it shows interaction, therefore, giving the image a dynamic quality.

The colour of the clothes are good complimentary colours which do not crowd or distract the eye.

The deep notch, which reveals the shadow of the North side adds the necessary contrast, and reveals depth. And the geometries of the background are fabulous, as is the colour of the sky.

One problem is over exposure on the S-facing slope. Otherwise a 10.

Thanks for your nice words! :o) You are totaly right. With all of this I appreciate your 9/10 vote much more than some others 10/10...
Photo was made with a not too profi Olympus cam, wich has no facility of the spot light metering...

Re: Man and Mountain

The only thing I would like more, is being there. It's been a while since I've been on the hill, so I'm making do with biking every day. This winter I plan to finish my book.

Re: Man and Mountain

Well, it's about - Man and Mountain, but also the deeper part inside. I'm quite into the workings of the mind - why we need to climb and the mental part that tries to stop us by generating the fear. I apply that aspect in many of the chapters. I've been working on it for some years, and changed the title several times as my mood and ideas changed. It's getting there. I've a couple of extracts on the Site. "Trip Report" "Velino Chapter" is quite long and talky. The "Velino" one is nice and punchy. It's hard to decide on the style of writing.
Let me know what you think if you have time to look.
Cheers, Ray

Dynamic

There is a dynamic sense of action and anticipation in this photo that is difficult to capture. Nicely done.

Edit: Now I see RayMondo also used the word dynamic. The photo definitely works.
