Magerstein (3273m) from Fernerköpfl (3249m)

Magerstein is the dark summit. In front, to the left, is Frauenköpfl (3244m), a minor summit. The route to Magerstein follows the rocky ridge and goes over it. It's easier than it may look. It's possible to go around on the left, but that takes longer, and the glacier isn't without crevasse risk. I'm on top of Fernerköpfl. The signpost just below the summit marks an important junction: to the right is the route to the Rieserferner Hütte. 1 August 2014.
