A pretty nice December day for climbing. The trail is mostly free of blow downs, but a few in the forest make the true trail hard to follow. Whatever, the way up is still the way up! Saw snow around 2500', began plowing through it at the beginning of the exposed area. It was 1 to 4 feet deep in places, but the trail remained mostly visible. Broke trail up the talus field with snowshoes, but others did it without. As the first of the day, we earned the summit in 3'45". Mild wind on top, and the mailbox is not there. At least the fire hydrant remains, marking the spot! Poor views lead to a hasty retreat.
Great day for a hike! Relatively few people on the trail today and a quick trip to the top. The trail was a little muddy near the rock slide, and there was little/no visibility on top.
Much to my disappointment, the mailbox and fire hydrant were both missing. The ladder had been thrown off to the side of the summit cropping.

A warm spring day, great for a hike! The trail is dry and in great shape for the first ~2.5 miles, then becomes muddy. Snow on the trail after leaving the woods, but never too bad. The warm weather brought a little postholing where there should have been easy walking. The rock field should be bypassed as it is not safe with the soft remaining snow. Summit had great views, and I'm happy to report the ladder has been removed. 2 hours, 47 minutes to the top. A tough hike as usual.
A nice hike that is usually a snowshoe trip this time of year. Surprised to see a fire hydrant and ladder on the summit. Is there an end to how much junk people will cart to the summit of this mountain? The fire hydrant is a fitting memorial but in my opinion the ladder is unnecessary.

First time back since August, when the mailbox was missing. Great to see it has returned, and has a few friends. Check out the fire hydrant and ladder in memory of the Firefighters that lost their lives on Sept. 11. Very touching. The weather was great for late December. Trail was wet and muddy in places, but not enough snow to mention. Time to summit: 2hrs 32mins. All around a great trip, but as usual I'll pay for it tomorrow!

First time up this one. Great hike.... little steep tho! =) The weather was awsome..... 35+ winds on the summit, horizontal snow, frozen cheeks, it was great!

Another great day in the Northwest! A nice dry trail, clearly marked most of the way to the summit. First time to the summit without any snow. The weather was just about perfect, and there were only a few other hikers around. The big sour note came at the summit. The Mailbox is missing! Hope it was just borrowed, and will return soon.

Made it to the top. This would be my second trip up and the first time for my friend Rick. As you can see from the picture he was very excited! Oh how the Quads and Calf muscles sing! Hey, I left my spine on top and a new log book with a ton of room for "your thoughts". I considered drinking that beer just for good times...........
Left the trailhead at 9am. Even after the last storm we had, the trail was icy with a few inches of snow on top. At about mile 2 we put on our crampons since the trail is so steep. Like morons we left our snowshoes on the side of the trail and continued on. Once we broke out of the trees at mile 2.5, we were waist high in fresh powder. It was slow and we gave up and had lunch for a bit. Half an hour later some snowshoers came by and broke trail for us, yet we still postholed quite a bit. A few more folks came up behind us as well and made it a little bit better. The false summit slope and the main slope to the summit had hardly any snow due to the high winds, so avalanche danger was quite low since it was not a loaded slope. We all reached the summit soon afterward. Huge cornice had formed at the top, and the mailbox was buried. 3.5 hours up for us. The descent was quite icy and I only fell twice, once on my face and the other time on my rear end.

Climbed with a large group of about 10 folks. Slow going up, and it got real windy near the plateau where we scrambled up the boulderfield which was barely covered in snow (stupid). It was windy all the way to the top with gusts of 25-35 mph. Stayed on top just to sign the Seuss book and then we retreated. No views

Rain, rain, and more rain. No one else on the trail. Scooby had fun, and we got up pretty quick. This hike never gets easy as far as I'm concerned. No views at the top (as usual)

Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: 29 Apr 02GREAT climb!!! Fantastic weather!!! Reached the Summit at 0745. Great views of Baker, Glacier, Rainier and Tacoma (I think).
There's a beer waiting in the mail box for whoever claims it. Too bad it's Coors Light. Don't know who left it.

Started in the rain, changed to snow, got a sunburn on the summit.
