Maja Lagojvet north face

Maja Lagojvet north face

The first ascent route ('Balkans Peace Park', UIAA VII- A0/AF) winds its way up the right-hand side of it, almost straight to the main (western) summit. The seemingly higher eastern summit is in fact several metres lower (we have not climbed it, the summit ridge has extremely loose rock). Photo taken in July 2008, route climbed on 31 August 2009.

Re: Nice!

Dzieki Radek! Nice limestone? F**ing hell of a choss fest more like :) AF stands for 'all free' i.e. hanging on a runner after a fall. Long story behind it, will write a TR soon. In a nuthshell, I took a 4m flyer on a peg, buggered my left hand a bit, took a rest (AF) and used the peg to do a little pendulum to reach a hold to my right (A0) for an alternative way up. There was no time to free this pitch (would perhaps go at not more than VII, about 5.10c/d for you) as it was already late and we had a hell of a long way to the summit :)

Re: Nice!

thank you - you shouldn't feel the need to explain the hanging-on-sling part to me....my only ethic is not to damage the rock I climb. Other than that, one should do whatever one pleases! :)
Best regards & na zdrowie!

Re: Nice!

Yeah of course, I thought what the hell, it's an FA of a mountain in the middle of nowhere and not some nice bolted crag, but for a split second a sport-climber spirit in me urged me to free it :)
