Choss buster  Sucess!

I clocked this at 16.3 miles and 5500' from the Whitewater trailhead. I went a bit east of the ridge and ascended snow slopes/gulleys and crossed a moraine and met the ridge about 200' below the liner (probably why my distance was a little longer) but, I ascended/descended about 3000' on good snow instead of messing with the ridge (until the final choss pile). Honestly, this was more effort than Hood (I have done Hood RT from Timberline in under 5 hrs, this was 7.5 hrs RT).

Marion CoHP  Sucess!

Did this County Highpoint with Jobe Wymore. There is the potential for some route finding on this one but we had no problem getting to the highpoint. Followed the ridge a little ways beyond what GPS showed as the HP to be safe. The Jefferson Park Glacier is pretty impressive and quite awesome to hike along side of. Oregon CoHP #20. My GPS track for this one is listed here... http://www.peakbagger.com/climber/ascent.aspx?aid=550949

One more to go!  Sucess!

I started several hours prior to sunrise in order to finish early enough to still make it home that night. I was glad for the early start as some nasty-looking thunderheads seemed to be moving in. I fell down a couple of times on loose footings but otherwise the approach for the CoHP was straightforward. Similar to the Skamania CoHP in Washington, I went further up the ridge just to be certain the highest point had been reached/crossed. This leaves Lookout Mountain as my final Oregon CoHP.

Whitewater TH  Sucess!

We paid a visit to the newer, 1997 highpoint further south up the North Ridge, with loose class 3 rock on the last stretch. Trip Report.

Jefferson Park  Sucess!

This is a great picturesque hike. You have to be careful of rockfall and moving boulders on the upper mountain, but it is a fantastic hike. I started early in the morning by headlamp and it still took me 11 hours.

Long but great day  Sucess!

SP'er Bob and I had started early and had a great day. The weather was foggy at times and clear at others. We met two other guys that were trying to climb Jefferson via the north ridge/Whitewater glacier but they said they barely escaped with their lives. Rockfall was dominant. This is a nasty area, everything moves.
