North Ridge Trail
Repeated the same trail I did last year. Great day hike to do with the girlfriend. We gauge the weather very well though; we were up at the top when two separate storm systems made there way from the coast into the Willamette Valley. It was very blustery up there, but very little snow.

North Ridge Trail
MILES: 10.20 / TIME: 2.50 hrs / ELEVATION GAIN: 2200 feet WEATHER: light rain and fog. This is a long trail through the forest. There are some trees and debri in the trail here and there, but fairly easy hiking. I was hauling a 30 pound pack. I hiked up and ran most of the route back down. There was some large patches of snow on summit.
Hiked this one from the east ridge trail, beautiful forest hike, awesome views on top, the only place I have ever seen the Pacific ocean and the Cascade mountains.

drive to the top. not that hard. Did the trail once... with 4 feet of snow, and i was in skate shoes and shorts and a tank top. lol. that was interesting to say the least.

Corvallis view
Had a nice hike, added 2 hours because we had trouble finding the trail head that our Corvallis hiking book told us about so we accidentally added 2 hours down some gravel road. Great view from the top! Very nice trail.

North Ridge Trail
Using the 10+ miles North Ridge Trail as a warm-up/training for South Sisters, the trail conditions are very good. Hiked it with my girlfriend and a coworker. The start of the trail is a little hard to discern, so we accidentally went up the U.S. Forestry Service gravel road instead and added another 2 miles to the overall roundtrip. Excellent views from the top.

Winter Overnight
Really fun winter trip, felt more like a summer trip though because it was almost 60 degrees at the top because of a crazy inversion. Trip report coming soon...

East Ridge Trail
Easy hike, good views of old growth forest, good workout. The weather was quite mild most of the way up, but was very windy and cool at the top.

Many summits
I have visited the summit of Mary's peak several times. I am hoping to do a winter ascent/teliski descent. I have always felt this mountain was unique. It is a cascade peak marooned in the coast range. Great view of the coast at sundown.
good times. The above date indicates day I put in the most miles hiking on mary's.

East Ridge Trail
Getting over a cold so I decided to do something easier. Nice hike. Very blustery up top. Saw the only other person there that day at the summit. Some guy with a 75 lb. pack with "Jolly" written all over everything he had who was training for something bigger. Few inches of snow and rime on the top 500 feet or so, drifting to deeper spots in areas. Could see from St. Helens to Thielsen and the Three Sisters to the ocean. Finished up my Christmas shopping afterwards in Woodburn.

Pleasant stroll
Totally sent that last shuffle through the wildflowers. Got wife (who carried the baby, my turn in a few months) and me out of the valley's pollen smog. Could see Hood, Jefferson, Sisters, but pretty hazy.
Have hiked this several times; snowshoed once. Relatively easy hike (and short if east trail taken). Wildflowers and views are amazing in the spring.

East Ridge trail
Beautiful day, temp in the 30's and little wind. Fun hike, the last half of the trail had many spots of snow turned into ice. The summit meadow had at least a foot of snow in most places, the parts in the shade were very icy. Had to do some step kicking at one spot of the trail, icy snow at a 35 degree sidehill, which I avoided on the way down by taking a higher route in the sun. Amazing view at the summit, from Rainier to the north to Thielsen to the south. 1:15 up, 55 minutes down.

Fun Weather
Now that I am attending OSU in Corvalls I have a good chance to explore a new part of the country. The weather today was pretty rad with heavy winds and rain/sleet/snow. It made for quite a fun impromptu romp around the woods and peak. I was surprised how much timber has fallen onto the road. There were about 5 or more trees laying on the road going up.

Parked at upper lot. Strong winds but the clouds were high enough to see almost to the Sisters. Just a trace of snow on the ground at the summit.
