Re: Excellent shot!!!

Thanks Eric. I was really excited about the lighting that evening ... if only I knew a little more photographic knowledge about what to do with it!

Magnificent!

Great photo. Love the look of the 'snow line', and sky, especially.

I love the colors ..

When clicking on LARGE, I noticed the coloring
on the slopes of the mountain.

Is that some kind of plant that turns a
rusty red color in Autumn? What is it ???

Re: I love the colors ..

Well, it's a mix of things including a lot of little blueberry plants, and most years it would be more red. But this year caterpillars ate tons and tons of the leaves, so we have rusty tundra instead of red tundra. And amazing numbers of moths, too (the former caterpillars). They say they've pretty much eaten themselves out of house and home, so next year should be back to normal.

Re: I love the colors ..

Hmmm, sounds like strange things happening ..

My friend (in Nome) said they're having trouble
with (an explosion) of Musk Ox.

They've been coming into town killing dogs.

Revenge is the word!

And, if you get enough Musk Ox together,
Russian scientists claim they can slow down
Global Warming, or SPEED up Global Cooling !!!

Good question.

Looks like it might have Hemorrhoids; sad.

Those varmints are at it again, Larry

Latest from the Nome Nugget: "yet another dog was attacked by a musk ox, this time in the subdivision at the base of Anvil Mountain. Ramon Gandia's dog was attacked by a single musk ox, who hooked the collar; the dog slipped out and ran for its life. The German shepherd later returned home with a small puncture wound, was medically attended to and lived.
Gandia said that he could deal with that, but what really concerns him as a pilot and a wildlife observer is that some herds tend to congregate near the airport and what a disaster it would be if a musk ox herd would be on the runway as a jet approaches."
