Mather Gorge

This is the view from Cow Hoof Rock in the Great Falls Park of Virgina. The river is the Potomac as it is flowing through Mather Gorge. Many people like to rock climb on the crags and cliffs of Mather Gorge, though it is something I have never done. In fact, there were a few people preparing to climb the day I was here. There are also some other interesting facts about the Great Falls area, such as a ghost town and a few hand-built canals. It is only a 20 minute drive from Washington, D.C. (October 28, 2007)
