Matterhorn Peak & Wetterhorn
Climbed Matterhorn after Wetterhorn. Didn't find this peak too much fun. The trudge up the grass slope was a bit of a pain. Nonetheless, the summit was enjoyable and the views were honestly better than on Wetterhorn. You have an unobstructed view of Uncompahgre
via SE ridge accessed from Matterhorn Creek TH. With Akiko, Ying and Beth. We enjoyed several minutes of watching a pine marten on the summit. My 2nd Matterhorn (after another one in Nevada).

SE Slope/Ridge
Not as spectacular as the Swiss Matterhorn or the California Matterhorn, but still a nice peak. Short class 3 scramble near the top. Otherwise kind of a slog up the grassy SE slope. Climbed after Wetterhorn.

First time on top of the many Matterhorns
Stoked for all the Matterhorns left to climb. Puzzling ridge traverse to Wetterhorn. Wish I just hiked down and across to Wett, would've probably took less time.
From Matterhorn Creek TH. Nice hike. I decided to pass on Broken Hill -- after 8 straight days of hiking Lake City bicentennials (and a few other 13ers), I was simply ready to head home. I figured 72.5 miles and ~33k feet of elevation gain was enough to earn me a rest.

Matt/Unc/Wett Trifecta
Beautiful weekend in the Matterhorn Creek basin. We camped at the trail junction and climbed Matterhorn at sunset. Uncompahgre the next day and Wetterhorn on Sunday. Good times
With Megan Berry. After Wetterhorn Pk. Followed the standard Matterhorn Ck route down from the top of Wetterhorn but then peeled off N to join the Wetterhorn-Matterhorn ridge at its lowest point. From there a bit of a scramble to Matterhorn Pk; coming off the final tower before the summit was particularly steep, loose. But a nice way to approach the peak. Descended the easy southern slopes to rejoin the Matterhorn Ck trail. The reward for our day's efforts? A puncture on the way back to Lake City. Fortunately the feeble spare "donut" got us back to town where http://www.renesgarage.com/ fixed the tyre on the spot. Thank you, Rene.

Nice hike after Wetterhorn summit. Views from this mountain are amazing, being able to see Wetterhorn north face was very rewarding.

Matterhorn Creek TH
Enjoyed this peak in August snow! Snowy summer views were astounding, and it was neat to see paintbrush I full bloom, covered in snow! Nice mellow scramble, dynamite views! With Deb and Astroclimber. Headed to Packer Saloon for beers and sandwiches afterward.

Back for a lost camera
My friend lost his camera on Wetterhorn two weeks ago, so we went back to look for it and by the way, I climbed Matterhorn for fun. It was a very nice day.

Triple bonus
After Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn we returned to the junction and the weather cleared again. We had no choice, but to go for it! got ruthless and pounded out a 30 minute ascent from the junction after going all day already and doing 5 other 14ers in the preceding 3 days. It gave me that rush on the top I was looking for from going full speed for ALMOST too long. Great season for Wildflowers too!

Matterhorn Peak from the South Ridge
Pretty cool climb, mostly just a steep approach up the glassy slopes from any side really to gain the ridge. We chose to come from the basin between Wetterhorn and Matterhorn. The ridge is pretty straight forward, you can keep it at mild class 3 or 2+ in a little wash-out gully or choose to go full class 3 and scramble your way to the summit.

I peeled off from the group and scrambled this peak by way of a short chimney on the upper south face. Hit up Broken Hill at the end of the day while waiting for the others to get down from Wetterhorn.
