Re: Rahel

Hiltrud,

Rahel was a very good climber and fellow SPer. We still can enjoy the mountains that she climbed, those peaks that she loved. I hope that you are all right.

DIEGO, Rahel's friend

Miss You Rahel :(

Rahel -

I was glad you and I had the chance to talk about technical things, email our opinion (good or indifferent) and share in our fire for life! Everytime I see your picture, I get a little lump in my throat and my eyes become unfocused. I'm glad we had a simple friendship and I have those fond memories of a friend "across the pond". Your passing still gets to me but I know you were one with the beloved mountain we all cling to. See you on the other side, my friend!

Still ticking

When Time who steals our years away,
Shall steal our pleasures too,
The mem'ry of the past will stay,
And half our joys renew.

"Song from Juvenile Poems" by Thomas More 1779-1852

Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, she's still being remembered :) Climb on, Rahel!

A Poem for You, Rahel

Opposites

A deep darkness buries
A love that’s lost;
A gospel not sung;
A stream that trickles instead of gushes;
We disappear into the black.

Staring into a chasm
The black becomes darker;
A black so dark
Brightness is created within;
Darker still, the blackness shimmers
With one thousand specks of perfect light.

Absorbing the sequins of radiance
They grow and multiply;
Reaching one another to join in explosion;
A marriage of opposites:
Anguish and Ecstasy
Sadness and joy
Suffering and hope
Bitterness and compassion
A perfect circle of light is created;
All things wrong return to right.
