Great climb and beautiful views from the summit
Sadly very cloudy on summitday, but an awesome climb never the less.
Summited on a clear day, a little cold (I guess around -20C) but bearable. Superb views of the highest mountains in the world!!
Sat at the Kathmandu airport for 4 days waiting for a flight to Lukla. B/c the people I was with were on a tight time schedule, we had to climb faster than one would normally like for acclimatization. After 3 days of rain hiking, the weather finally cleared and we got a beautiful summit day. I went up with my guide but the other 2 members of the party only made it to high camp
Reached the summit with a local guide. Awesome view!
After being properly acclimatized from my previous 6 weeks of trekking and climbing in Kangchenjunga region, I decided to visit the Solu Khumbu and Barun Makalu areas and get a little higher, a little faster. A team of 4, we headed out of Lukla on Dec. 4th, reached the high camp on Mera on Dec. 10th, and climbed the Mera Central on the 11th, before 9:00am, took some pics (WHAT A VIEW!!!) and headed down. I was back in Lukla on Dec. 14th. A superb 11-day trek and climb. December weather was amazingly clear, only a little chilly at altitude. Wouldn't change a thing, absolutely perfect!!!
Standard route to the summit. Very very windy on summit day with some clouds on nearby peaks but spectacular never the less.
climbed 6429m "trekking summit" in windy and cloudy weather... and then chickened out... did not try for central summit... but we gained a lot of experience for other climbs a high altitude adventure...
5 hrs from high camp and another 6 down to Khare. Excellent visibility and not too cold after sunrise.
Failed due to waist deep snow and visibility. Made it to 19,000.
As part of 5 week independent trek.
Summitted at 8:30am, 5hrs after leaving ABC on a perfect but cold day (-30c at 3am). Wonderfull views
normal route great weather at 58 oldest great people love to go back
We have summit at 19 october at 08.45 hour in a sunny morning by -20 celcius and the wind was blowing harder and harder so in base camp i had frost bite on my left big toe.
We 3 member of the expedition had to be evacuated by helicopter to Kathmandu for furder inspection.
10 out of 11 of us summited. Long, hard slog on summit day but well worth it. Great views.
All 4 of my group made it to top. After 11 days of acclimatisation still exhausting though the route is technically very easy. Superb views, even including Kangchenzongha. Broke down high camp and descended to Mera La Base Camp same day.
perfect weather, perfect team, perfect food, perfect everything....
I could never imagine to succeed!
tnx to everyone involved in this adventure
p.s.: I'm trying to prepare a trip report, see you soon!
Fantastic, shame about the (lack of) views from the summit
We left on a clear, cold windless moonlit night. The head torch was not event necessary. Our entire group of 11 summited along with our three Sherpa and our cook. It was an amazing day with incredible views of Chomolungma. After being to the summit of a Himalayan peak you are changed forever….
