Strange attraction ..I always dreamed about coming across one of
these in the southwest desert.
I'm shocked that the strong winds haven't buried the thing yet! Very nice photograph.
Was it found in an area "sheltered" from the wind ?

Re: Strange attraction ..Agreed, it is fascinating to stumble upon something like this. It can trigger a lot of contemplation.
It was not very sheltered which led me to think it was quite recent. In fact even bits of tissue still attached to the bone. I uploaded a shot showing more of an overview:

The area off the right side of the photo (generally north) was completely wide open.
The photo not posted is my friend sitting next to it holding his camp spoon.
