Hot day - hike from Miller Creek Trailhead
I got about 15 miles on this route, with some doubling back. I don't think it is 16.2 miles round trip. Record breaking heat in the Phoenix Valley during this trip. That made it hot even on Rincon Peak. It was like it was June. But, there were three of us and we made it up and down in 9 hours, because one of our team was a lot slower today. The views are excellent. It is really an excellent hike. So much of the elevation gain is really all in the last mile or so to the summit.
The hike itself is great and the view from the top is lovely, but incessant swarms of flies that started around 5,800 ft and didn't let up until we were on the summit made the day pretty miserable.
