Missouri/Oxford/Beford
Climbed the Northwest Ridge Route. Nice day, a little snow remaining from last weeks storms. Continued on and completed Oxford the Belford. Very long tiring day. Over 14 miles total with over 7,000 ft. of elevation gain.

Missouri/Iowa/Emerald
Climbed Missouri from Missouri Gulch. 3-8" of snow on the northern slopes and NW ridge. Continued to Iowa and Emerald Peaks. Returned over Elkhead Pass. Nice hike, great views.
Ascend and then ski descent of the main north couloir (the one that tops out right below summit). Climed with shanahan96.

two snow season adventures
May 9, 2009- climbed missouri's north face with mike. the snow behaved nicely for us, making kicksteps somewhat painless, before topping out just feet from the summit. a fantastic, early couloir season line!
Jan 29-31, 2010- spent three days(21.5 miles/5,270') plugging through an unforgettable adventure on missouri, #33/100 winter. friday's 8.5 mile slog to camp was nightmarish and my body was shot for summit day saturday. that effort cost me a shot at emerald. sunday's hike out wasn't bad and overall it was a productive trip.
June 18, 2016- a return trip up missouri's north face, this time with michelle and steve. really enjoyed being back out there and kicked the way up the couloir!

Missouri in December
After I slept at the trailhead, Jeff Goodwin and I met at the Rockdale Trailhead at 5:15 AM for our attempt on Missouri Mountain. We waited around until 5:30 just in case anyone else showed up since there were some more people interested in climbing it. At 5:30 we drove through the treacherous stream crossing and drove part way up the road and we found that with very careful 4wd driving we could make it to the first parking area along the road.
We broke then broke trail to Clohesy Lake (part way on snowshoes), but found it to be much easier than expected so the going was faster than we thought it would be. After taking a break at the frozen lake we headed for the mountain. The weather was on and off with brief bouts of snow and some occasional views of the snowy peaks.
The climbing up to timberline was quite steep, but we found scraps of a climbers trail that shown through the snow. Since the entire gully was full of solid ice we stayed on the north side of the gully all the way to timberline. The climb was then just a slippery climb up snowy and grassy slopes to the crux boulderfield just before Point 13,690. The steep boulderfield was a challenge since the rocks were all covered with hoar frost, but we persevered and made the summit after about six hours. There was no visibility at all from the summit and it was just cold and misty, but still interesting because of all the ice covered rocks.
On the descent the sun began to peek through and the clouds and we got some fantastic views of some of the mountains with swirling clouds around their summits. The descent was pretty challenging as well, but we made it back to the vehicle before sunset. It was a great climb.

Missouri Gulch
Peak one of four on this day. Saw an abundance of wildlife with moderate temps. The night on the way out was actually warmer then the day, go figure. Climbed an east facing couloir and finished it off on a crappy rock fin. Good alt to the standard.

It's a nice hike, though the trail is erosion-prone and vague above treeline.
After researching several Sawatch 14er possibilities, we decided to tackle Missouri Mountain. The trail was exceptionally crowded on a summer Saturday, but most were headed for Belford. This hike was just gorgeous, nicer than I expected. The trail was uniformly steep, and the summit ridge is a fun, memorable scramble with a little exposure.

Fairly easy hike. Was unable to do all three previously, so had to come back to knock off Missouri. Pauly's first 14er! Not bad for a boy from Missouri.

Northwest Ridge
Started at the Missouri Gulch TH at 7:00, summitted around 11:00, back down to the car at 2:00PM. An easy, steep hike and a fun ridge walk to the summit...very pretty area, one that I'm sure I'll venture back to at some point. For now, I'm just glad that I don't have haul myself up those switchbacks any time in the near future. Talk about a quad workout!

I did the Northwest ridge from Elkhead Basin. Pretty bad weather. Avoided it and got to the top but had to cut my summit time down due to the weather coming in from the North. Very fun climb but a little hard.

South Ridge II from Pine Creek Trail
Backpacked up Pine Creek Trail and camped near Bedrock falls. Left camp around 6:30 and summited around 8:45. It was about 4 miles according to my forerunner. Headed on over to Belford and then Oxford.

Missouri Gulch
Camped at Vicksburg with wife and toddler daughter. Soloed peak next day and descended on the back (south side) back to the pass. Found a perfect arrow head at about 12,000 feet - probably left (lost?) by a Ute hunter a century ago.

I climbed the central north face couloir on a weekend trip by myself, nailed the others in the area as well. Nice spot to be all alone.
