Early April in the Sierra Nevada Foothills south of Jackson. The botanical name of this flower is Dichelostemma capitatum.

Kerstin...So beautiful..both the Butterfly & that gorgeous flower! Is that old barb wire I see?

Thank you, Anita for your votes and comment! It was windy when I was trying to take this photo. The female Monarch was flying around and clinging to the wildly waving flower stalk. I was hoping her wings wouldn't get caught on the barbed wire.
