Nice one, Guido ...Tufa is another NAME for white limestone? I wonder what they mined for in that area. I guess lime is used in cement. They have a gypsum plant right outside Las Vegas. -Larry

Re: Nice one, Guido ...Thanks. As far as I know, both tufa and limestone are essentially calcium carbonate rocks, but the way they form is different.
In Bodie northwest of Mono Lake there were profitable gold and silver mines in the late 19th century. Cheers, Guido
