Climbed with andrea.it the normal route from Savoie bivouac. Easy but long route (about 1.300 m up). Beatiful panorama from the summit.

Started at Bourg St Bernard and climbed the Hannibal couloir on the west face. Then skied down the Valsorey-Route. A beautiful and long traverse.

Route Climbed: NE ridge Date Climbed: aug 1978  Sucess!

After a night spent in Savoie bivouac, we stepped towards Valsorey pass, avoiding it along the left rocks to the ridge, then all along the latter till the upper glacier plateau. Then direct up the final névés slopes to the widest alpine summit I ever met. Wonderful weather, grand view on Combin and Mt Blanc range.

Route Climbed: Cabane de Velan over the Col de la Gouille then 2b Date Climbed: 19 March 2005  Sucess!

With JB, AS and Nico from the St Bernard Pass road on skis to the cabane. Next morning up over the col de la Gouille, then down and back up the glacier before reaching the summit, a vast dome of clear ice with one of the very best 360 degree alpine panoramas I have seen. Much of the climb dominated by unusual views of the Grand Combin. Hut to top and back took us nine hours. Next day over the ridge behind the hut and down (via a second ridge) to the St Bernard Pass. Fantastic trip.

Snow was heavy and in places truly awful for climbing on - frequent avalanche danger - but much better than we'd feared for skiing on. Didn't see a cloud in three days.
